3. Evaluation Stage

Developing Goal-Oriented Questions:

  •  Did the event serve its purpose?
  • Did the format facilitate meaningful dialogue?
  • Were diverse perspectives integrated?
  • Did participants’ knowledge or attitudes change?
  • Did the event generate impulses for future science communication?

Type of Evaluation:

  • Formative Evaluation: Conducted during the process to improve the implementation
  •  Summative Evaluation: Conducted post-event to assess the overall impact

Assessing the Dialogue / Exchange Process Participant Perspective (Audience Centered Evaluation)

  • How was the dialogue perceived

Methods:

  • Pre and post event surveys (expectations vs. actual experience)
  • Open ended feedback questions (e.g., “What was particularly valuable?”, “What could be improved?”)
  • Assessing emotional engagement (e.g., “Did your opinion change?”, “Did you feel heard?”)
  • Participatory reflection (e.g., moderation cards, digital polling tools such as Mentimeter or Padlet)
